Forecast Tracker is a collaborative effort to build an easy to access reference library of forecasts, predictions, estimates, promises, advice, guesstimates, analysis, budgets, costs and projections made by paid professionals, experts, specialists and elected officials in a broad range of categories.

Some people have considerable power and influence, with their pronouncements spread far and wide by mainstream media, but all too often they have a vested interest or are economical with the truth.

Others struggle to be heard even though they offer balanced input that is valuable to broader society. Of course there are also many in between these extremes.

Forecast tracker hopes to highlight those that tend to miss their targets or projections and the others that should be acknowledged for having a good track record with forecasts, predictions or promises.

Use this website to keep an eye on a few of your favourite, or least favourite forecasters, using the rate voting system to alert others to the accuracy, benefits or pitfalls of listening to people of influence.

Flag realistic, optimistic or outrageous forecasts in categories that you know well so that others can be guided by a consensus vote of the masses.

But remember, context and duration are crucial in evaluating forecasts. Upload a file or copy a link to existing online reports for more detail if necessary and as a reference.

Please also pre-populate the database with back-dated forecasts, especially from before the global financial crisis in 2008, to alert users to those people that have already proven to have good foresight or the others that got it horribly wrong.
